MCJ Appointments was built on a belief that most people get recruitment wrong - by treating it as a numbers game rather than a people business. Too many agencies focus on filling roles rather than finding the right person for them. Too many candidates receive a call only when their CV fits a current vacancy. Too many clients are handed a shortlist of whoever is available, rather than whoever is right.
We set out to do things differently. And for more than twenty years, that approach has been the foundation of every client relationship and every placement we've made.
Based in Parramatta and focused squarely on NSW, MCJ Appointments is a specialist agency serving local councils, state government departments, and private sector organisations with professional, engineering, technical and administrative recruitment. Our principals bring over 40 years of combined experience in this space - experience that gives our clients and candidates the benefit of real market knowledge, genuine sector relationships, and a consultative approach that goes well beyond matching keywords to a job description.
Our Story
From the outset, we chose to specialise rather than generalise. Where many agencies try to be everything to everyone, MCJ Appointments focused on building genuine depth in government, engineering and technical recruitment. That focus means our consultants understand the sectors they recruit for - the language, the compliance requirements, the career paths and the candidate motivations, in a way that generalist recruiters simply can't match.
Today, MCJ Appointments holds pre-qualified supplier status across multiple NSW government procurement panels and continues to serve clients across the state from our Parramatta base.
What We Believe
Recruitment is a people business, not a process business. The best placements happen when a consultant has taken the time to genuinely understand what a client needs and what a candidate wants - not just matching skills to requirements, but considering culture, career trajectory and long-term fit.
Transparency builds trust. We tell clients when a candidate isn't right, even when it would be easier to push someone through. We tell candidates when a role isn't a good fit for their career, even when it would be easier to place them quickly. Long-term relationships matter more to us than short-term results.

What We Do
MCJ Appointments provides temporary, contract and permanent recruitment across professional, engineering, technical and administrative disciplines, with a primary focus on NSW local and state government. We also work with private sector clients in civil construction, infrastructure and facilities management who require candidates with a similar skill profile to our government placements.
Our services include direct candidate sourcing, active and passive talent pooling, reference and compliance checking, salary benchmarking, position description review, and ongoing post-placement support. We don't disappear after a contract is signed - we stay engaged with both clients and candidates to ensure placements work for everyone.
